CWS was built on the principles set forth in Employment First, a critical priority for the U.S. Department of Labor, Office of Disability Employment Policy (ODEP) and Pennsylvania’s Governor’s Office.  Under the Employment First approach, community-based, integrated employment is the first and preferred option when exploring and establishing a fulfilling career path for individuals with disabilities.

We embrace the concept that employment is about more than simply earning a paycheck. It is the foundation for one’s sense of purpose and identity, increasing quality of life, independence and wellness.

With more than sixty years of experience in special education, we know that with the right support and practice, adults with disabilities have many strong, employable characteristics and the ability to fully engage in all aspects of their communities.  We are well-positioned to provide our participants the individualized supports necessary to discover, develop and maintain competitive, integrated employment.

Our employment services provide the individualized support necessary to help our participants realize their employment vision and develop a blueprint for workplace success. We strive to empower participants, foster independence, discover natural supports in the workplace and promote success through self-advocacy.

Having fun, meeting new friends and exploring recreational opportunities are also critical dimensions of quality of life.  With that, we offer a range of community outings, respite weekends, structured social and recreation activities.
